Privacy Policy
Protecting your data matters to me. Here you can read which data is processed when you visit this website, for what purpose, and what rights you have. This English text is a courtesy translation; the German version is legally authoritative.
Who is responsible for data processing
Sascha Christian Kilian
Raumerstraße 26
10437 Berlin
Germany
E-Mail: contact@saschakilian.de
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the person named above, who alone decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data on this website.
The basics of data processing
Personal data is processed on this website only to the extent technically necessary. This website is deliberately data-minimal: there is no classic contact form and no analytics or tracking services. First contact is made exclusively by email or via the booking link. Processing always takes place in accordance with the GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by a provider with servers located in Germany or the European Union. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider, ensuring data-protection-compliant processing.
When the website is accessed, the hosting provider automatically records information in so-called server log files that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of access, the page accessed, the volume of data transferred, the browser type and operating system used, and the previously visited page (referrer). This data serves the technical delivery, stability and security of the website.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional website). The log files are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the stated purpose, as a rule after no more than 30 days.
Locally hosted fonts
For a consistent appearance, this website uses the fonts “Instrument Serif” and “Geist”. These are hosted locally on the server and delivered directly with the page. No connection to third-party servers (such as Google Fonts) is established. Your IP address is not transmitted to third parties.
Getting in touch by email
When you contact me by email, your details (e.g. name, email address and the content of your message) are processed and stored in order to handle your enquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry concerns the initiation or performance of a contract; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the respective purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.
Booking appointments via Calendly
To arrange first and exploratory conversations, I link to the service Calendly. The provider is Calendly LLC, 271 17th St NW, 10th Floor, Atlanta, Georgia 30363, USA.
When you book an appointment, Calendly processes the data you enter (e.g. name, email address and preferred time) as well as technical connection data on its own servers, including in the USA. The transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of pre-contractual measures) and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent through active use of the booking link). Calendly's privacy policy applies: https://calendly.com/privacy.
Note: Calendly is provided only as a link and opens only when you actively click it. No Calendly content is loaded on this website without your action.
No cookies, no web analytics
This website sets no cookies for analytics or marketing purposes and uses no tracking or web-analytics services (such as Google Analytics). No profiling takes place. For this reason, no cookie consent banner is required.
SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address bar of your browser begins with “https://” and a padlock symbol is displayed.
Your rights as a data subject
Within the limits of the law, you have the following rights at any time:
- Access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
To exercise your rights, an informal message to the contact details above is sufficient. You can withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future.
Complaint to the supervisory authority
Without prejudice to other remedies, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR. The authority responsible is:
Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
Alt-Moabit 59–61
10555 Berlin

Newsletter signup
You can sign up for my newsletter in the footer. Sign-up currently works by email: when you submit, your email program opens with a prepared message to me. I use your email address solely to send you the newsletter.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future and unsubscribe from the newsletter — an informal message is enough.
As soon as I use a technical service provider for sending, it will be named here and the procedure (including double opt-in) will be added accordingly.
Status and changes
Last updated: June 2026. I will update this policy whenever the legal situation or the data processing on this website changes.
